Stand Up. Dance For A Cause!

Today is 'International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.' In honor of this important day, the students and staff of Skateistan South Africa collaborated with dance duo "Those Girls" to perform a dance routine to an exclusive track by Ruzza Wazzi.

Musician and producer Ruzza Wazzi is also known as Alan Jones. He is an Educator at our Skate School in Johannesburg. "Those Girls" teamed up with our female students to choreograph a dance to his song especially for Skateistan. They did it during a girls-only session at the Skate School in Johannesburg. The aim of the video is to raise awareness of gender-based-violence and celebrate the creativity of our female students.

Give Her Five Launches December 5th!

We have something really exciting to show you for our new December fundraising campaign. An inspiring story to tell. Give Her Five celebrates the impact Skateistan is having on the lives of girls and women around the world. We will showcase how safe spaces, sport, and education help girls gain the skills and confidence they need to become leaders!

It launches with a brand new animation telling the story of a Skateistan student in Afghanistan. We can't wait to show you!

Get Ready To Support and Share!

From December 5th, Give Her Five will be live. We'd love for your help to share the campaign and make it as big as possible. We are asking the public to donate $5 in a bid to raise $100k! It is a big target!

We are 10 days away from the launch. If you would like to support by hosting a Five Drive fundraiser in December - fill out the form to receive the fundraising kit.You could host a skate jam, a bake sale or collect donations at your Christmas party. It all helps!

Celebrating 7 Years of the Kabul Skate School!

In 2009 Skateistan opened the doors to the first ever Skate School and a one-of-a-kind sporting facility in Kabul, Afghanistan. Since then it has grown year on year to welcome more students and the community, providing the safe space for youth to skateboard, do other sports and learn.

In honor of the Skate School’s 7th anniversary, the staff and students held a special celebration with cake, skateboarding, and plenty of smiles. Development and Communications Officer Hamdullah tells us about the event in a special blog post!
