You insult or flatter me. Is it possible for the mind not to give soil to that, instantly? That is, when you flatter me, I listen, I am attentive, watchful. You may be telling the truth, and if you are not, it’s your affair – it doesn’t enter very deeply – finished. If you flatter me, I watch it too, very carefully – the mind watches it – and if it is just, you know, silly stuff, I reject it, the mind rejects it. Now, can this happen all the time, so that the mind never accumulates images?
