(TaxProf) - Congress eliminated the deduction for alimony in the December 2017 Reconciliation Act (informally called the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act). But the legislation grandfathered in alimony payments made pursuant to divorce or separation instruments executed on or before December 31, 2018.
