SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Doctrine and Covenants 134:2
We believe that no government can exist in peace, except such laws are framed and held inviolate as will secure to each individual the free exercise of conscience, the right and control of property, and the protection of life. Click Here!

QUOTE OF THE DAY Lorenzo Snow
“We thank thee for the opportunity of thus displaying our feelings and love for these magnificent heroes who have accomplished wonders in the interests of these United States, this great republic, the foundation of which was laid by the noble, generous men inspired of thee, and as thou hast been favorable to this republic even from the date of its foundation to the present time, and hast raised up men and boys willing to serve their country” (“Boys Are Welcomed Home by Patriotic Multitude” 1). TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY July 3, 2021
1841 - The Nauvoo Legion was “called out to celebrate our National Independence (the 4th being Sunday), and was reviewed by Lieutenant-General Joseph Smith, who made an eloquent and patriotic speech to the troops, and strongly testified of his regard for our national welfare, and his willingness to lay down his life in defense of his country, and closed with these remarkable words, ‘I would ask no greater boon, than to lay down my life for my country.’” A dinner was then held in the grove attended by officers of the Legion, “and many others, with their ladies.” (History of the Church, 4:382) For More Church History, Click Here!
The Rise of the Latter-day Saints: The Journals and Histories of Newell K. Knight by William G. Hartley and Michael Hubbard MacKay Historians and academics use a handful of histories written by those closest to Joseph Smith during his ministry to document and tell the story of the Latter-day Saints. One of the most important histories that has not previously been available is a complex history of the early Church written in several installments by Newel Knight. He was one of a few early converts to write about the founding events in Church history. Knight died in January 1847, north of Winter Quarters, at the young age of forty-six. During the last five years of his life, he wrote a personal history composed of two elements: autobiography and journal. Though extremely important to the history of the Church, Knight’s history has always been a difficult source to use because it was never published in one place until now. This publication of his history will bring together his manuscripts and offer a way to cite them more precisely. Click Here!
