1847 - A special conference was held in the Salt Lake Valley. The choir that would later become the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings for the first time at the conference just 29 days after the first pioneers arrived. The Saints choose the name “Great Salt Lake City” as the name of the city they are building, and they name the river running through the valley the Jordan River.
