Good evening,

Those of us not planning a foreign holiday this year should have at least a little sympathy for those brave (some might say foolhardy) souols who are venturing away from these shores.
It seems that almost every week a new destination is added to the places where you need to isolate for 14 days on your return.
The problem is, in some cases, these decisions have come very late - too late for some who are already abroad - meaning they either face taking more time off work or trying to find a last minute very costly flight to get them home before the deadline hits.
The stress of this is not what I would call a holiday and it has been made even worse and more confusing by the fact that the various countries of the UK are taking different approaches regarding the resorts they are including in the quarantine rules.
As I’ve said before, staycations have been our choice - to miss all the hassle of the quarantine madness but also to support the local economy at home.
It’s now looking like a good decision!

I'm away for a couple of weeks (close to home!) so I'll hand you over to Deputy Editor Nicola Adam. Take care everyone and stay safe.

Gillian
