Good evening,

For many of us the thought of having a vaccination against Covid is a complete no-brainer.
We’ve spent most of the past 12 months in lockdown, not seen family and friends, not been out for a meal or a pint and goodness knows when we are all going to get a holiday.
So the thought of waiting in line at a vaccine centre until it is your turn to be jabbed sounds like quite an exciting day out. And the end result is that you will probably not get seriously ill even if you do contract Covid.
But for other folk, life is not so simple.
They get their news not from bonafide news organisations like this one, but from social media, where even the most ridiculous of claims are passed off as fact.
For others, myths and rumours are running rife in local communities. And this may be why some of our black and ethnic neighbours are choosing not to have a vaccination which could save their lives.
It is incumbent upon all of us to debunk these myths and make sure as many people as possible have the vaccine. It’s the only way to cut transmission and beat it.

Until next time, take care,

Gillian.
