Robert Early of Peoria was a father of three barely getting by on minimum wage factory jobs when he enrolled in Illinois Central College’s Truck Driver Training Program through the Workforce Equity Initiative, a statewide $18.7 million education program available across 15 community colleges. The program provides a tuition-free education and an hourly stipend. Early graduated last December with a Commercial Driver’s License and works as a truck driver for a Peoria-based company.
