At our NAMM booth, Frank Filipetti was asked if he ever misses the old analog sound. Well... Let's just say that Frank speaks his mind on this topic in the clearest terms possible!

But let's also stress that he is talking about analog storage versus digital storage. What he talks about has nothing to do with debates like analog outboard gear vs plugins or analog synthesizers vs virtual instruments.

Redundant Playback & Redundant Recording

This very cool Thunder | Core setup, holding both AX Center and Core 256, was in use at 'CCM Festival - Worship Able Live Album Recording' in Yongin Jeil Church, South Korea, 29 May 2025.

Apart from live sound duties, Control Pack functionality and lightning fast DADlink connectivity was used to provide both redundant playback AND redundant recording.

David Bowles of Swineshead Productions, LLC, recently shared this. David has been a long-time AX32 user, but appears to have upgraded to AX64.

David also happens to be a location recording engineer from the absolute top shelf, and we had the pleasure of a long conversation with him a few years back, which resulted in a user story that was not only about the gear but as much about his background as a classical musician and working with audio and musicians in general.
