Key operations of E! are being combined with Bravo, Oxygen and Universal Kids, with about 5% of the group’s workforce trimmed. The reorg includes the integration of E! and Bravo’s development teams under Rachel Smith, who’s currently SVP, Bravo Development. Jen Neal, previously EVP E! Marketing & Live Events, has been promoted to GM, E! News, Live Events and Lifestyle Digital. E!’s EVP of Development and Production, Amy Introcaso-Davis, is exiting, while Betsy Slenzak, VP of Development, will be heading to NBCU’s upcoming streaming platform Peacock as VP of Development for Unscripted. “I’m confident that this new structure, which creates multi-brand roles, will allow us to continue to grow the business and optimize our internal talent,” wrote Frances Berwick, President of NBCUni’s lifestyle nets, in a memo to staff. “I believe this leadership team and new structure, along with the talented employees working across all these brands, will drive our continued success.” Sheldon and Amy are reuniting. The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik have joined forces on Carla, a new comedy from Warner Bros. TV, based on Miranda Hart’s BBC series Miranda. While all broadcast networks were reportedly bidding on the project, starring and executive produced by Bialik and executive produced by Parsons, Fox emerged the winner and issued a series order for fall 2020. Nielsen is now tracking celebrities’ social media shout-outs of TV shows across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The measurement company’s Social Content Ratings measures a talent’s social TV promotion at scale - according to Nielsen, talent now drives close to 60% of all social engagement for TV programs, more than network and program accounts combined. HBO failed to get the multi-million-dollar Leaving Neverland lawsuit from the estate of Michael Jackson dropped, at least for now. In a tentative ruling in federal court on Thursday, Judge George Wu said he was leaning toward rejecting HBO’s wish to have the suit dismissed. The judge will issue his final ruling later this month. The Wall Street Journal reports that AT&T is considering selling DirecTV. Although the telecommunications company declined to comment, the WSJ said AT&T is looking into “various options” for DirecTV, including a spinoff unit. AT&T is also reportedly exploring the option of combining DirecTV’s assets with rival Dish Network. After the story was published, a source downplayed the idea of a DirecTV-Dish merger, telling CNN Business that no talks were underway between AT&T and Dish, since such a deal is not realistic in the current regulatory environment. All Elite Wrestling and TNT revealed the name of their upcoming weekly show. All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite begins Wednesday, October 2 at 8p on TNT; the two-hour matches will take place in different cities across the nation each week, starting in Washington, D.C. GroupM announced the formation of New Majority Ready Coalition. Led by GroupM and comprised of Disney, Google, iHeartMedia, Meredith, NBCUniversal, Twitter, Univision and Viacom, the coalition aims to help brands better adapt to the changing U.S. demographics and assist in developing their audience planning and media strategies accordingly. New Majority Ready, LLC, a minority-owned marketing and content consultancy founded by Oswald Mendez and Jacqueline Hernandez, has been retained to assist with the creation and development of the coalition’s tools and solutions. The E.W. Scripps Company closed it acquisition of eight television stations in seven markets divested form the Nexstar Media Group, Inc. transaction with Tribune Media. It grows the Scripps local television footprint to 60 stations in 42 markets, making it the nation’s fourth-largest independent broadcaster with a reach of 31% of U.S. TV households. |

As per the agreement, Levy will develop and produce scripted projects for the studio. Showtime issued a pilot production commitment to Spoonbenders, a one-hour drama based on Daryl Gregory’s 2017 novel. Project hails from You’re the Worst creator Stephen Falk, Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV. Falk is writing the pilot, which centers on The Amazing Telemachus Family, a travelling family magic act, and the tragedy that finds them 25 years later, forced to reunite due to old debts and the mob and CIA on their tail. The pair, who executive produce FX’s American Crime Story, Pose and the upcoming Y, signed a new four-year overall deal through their Color Force to continue to develop content for FX. HBO Sports picked up Any One Of Us. Produced by Red Bull Films, the SXSW documentary explores pro mountain biker Paul Basagoita’s journey to recovery after a devastating spinal cord injury. Quibi is moving forward with Empires of Luxury, a docu-series from Crazy Rich Asians author Kevin Kwan and documentarian Eddie Schmidt.
