RATINGS The three-hour season finale of ABC’s The Bachelorette rose 38 percent among A18-49 over its July 30 two-hour airing, marking a season high in the demo and winning the night. The rose withers a bit compared with the finale of the 2017, though, as the tune-in was down 14 percent this year. Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black continues to be a steady performer for the streaming service, according to new data from Nielsen’s SVOD Content Ratings report. The July 27 premiere, drew more than 5.3 million US viewers within three days, on an average minute basis; 71 percent of viewers were in the A18-49 demo. Freeform’s The Bold Type increased viewership by 14 percent in A18-49 during its first season across linear, digital and STB VOD platforms through 35 days, and in season 2 saw an increase of 126 percent over its first season on Hulu among A18-49 in its first seven days. The midsummer syndication session ended July 29 was a good one for the gabfests as 11 of the 14 shows in the category held firm or moved up from the week before. At the top of the genre Dr Phil (2.6 live plus same day national Nielsen rating, steady with the week before) was the No. 1 talk show for the 99th week in a row despite being entirely in reruns. Live with Kelly and Ryan (three-week high 2.1, up 11 percent) also had a big week, growing 11 percent from last year, the most annual growth of any talker. Ellen DeGeneres (1.5, down 6 percent) rounded out the top three. In access time periods, Entertainment Tonight (2.7, steady) tied sister show Inside Edition (2.7, down 4 percent) for first place among magazines. The big movers in the group were TMZ (1.2, up 9 percent) and Access (four-week high 1.1, up 10%).
