MEASUREMENT TiVo’s TV viewership data will be available in the Neustar Multi-Touch Attribution and Unified Analytics solutions. The inclusion of TiVo’s TV exposure data from its own set-top boxes and third parties is aimed at enabling advertisers to compare the efficacy of both TV and digital investments. “With TiVo’s data, we are able to better provide granular TV insight that enables us to help our clients make better decisions about where to allocate their next marketing dollar,” said Neustar GM and VP for Marketing Solutions Michael Schoen. Tubular Labs announced that Viacom, Ellen Digital Network and Corus Entertainment have joined the Global Video Measurement Alliance, created to establish new digital video measurement standards, beginning with social video. They join VICE, BuzzFeed and Group Nine as additional founding members of the consortium, founded in January 2017. The first two new cross-platform reach and engagement metrics in co-development with the GVMA are de-duplicated unique viewers, and minutes watched. “Tubular's new metrics in association with the GVMA are the first of their kind for social video. ADVERTISING Snap has plans to let media buyers reserve non-skip six-second ads in Snapchat Discover shows at fixed CPMs. The shows will reach young users, and be curated to ensure brand safety. “Snap Select gives marketers and agencies access to reserve inventory in the most premium, popular shows on Snapchat, and a direct path to reach Millennial and Gen Z audiences that are increasingly difficult to reach elsewhere,” said David Roter, VP, global agency partnerships at Snap. “We're thrilled with our ability to deliver ROI with non-skippable, full-screen Commercials, with sound on and at scale.” Advertising intelligence and sales enablement platform MediaRadar released an analysis of the ad spend of direct-to-consumer brands across digital, TV, and print that says DTC ad spend has been up 7 to 20 percent annually for five consecutive years, and is continuing to increase across almost every product category. According to MediaRadar’s data, DTC brands typically begin with highly targeted spend on social media. “When it comes to DTC advertising on social media, Instagram is the primary partner for this,” said Todd Krizelman, CEO and Co-Founder of MediaRadar. “The platform allows for very specific targeting, and seamless purchasing of product from within the app, which is a feature that few others offer.” The data also highlighted that as DTC firms scale their businesses, they begin to shift marketing and ad spending, with many relying more heavily on TV to create broad, top-of-funnel awareness.
