UPFRONT AT THE UPFRONTS Discovery Inc. president/CEO David Zaslav showed off his new blended family at the company’s Upfront yesterday at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, one month after Discovery acquired Scripps Networks Interactive. “We are proud to introduce, for the first time, the new Discovery,” said Zaslav. RATINGS MTV’s Jersey Shore revival is smoking hot. Last week’s debut of Jersey Shore Family Vacation drew a 4.2 rating among MTV’s core demo of A18-34 in Live+3, making it the network’s highest rated series premiere ever in Live+3. In syndication, the week ending April 1 was an explosive one for Dr. Phil, although many other daytime shows fizzled with the notable exception of syndication champion Judge Judy. Dr. Phil (3.2 Live+ Same Day national Nielsen rating, up 7% from the week before), which has finished first in the category for 82 straight weeks with just one tie, was the sole top 10 talk show in positive territory, widening its lead among the yakkers to more than a full point despite being in reruns for part of the week. Live with Kelly and Ryan (2.1, down 9%) aired only repackaged episodes all week but remained the second highest talk show for the fourth consecutive week. Ellen DeGeneres (new season low 1.8, down 18%) was also in repeats, and Steve Harvey’s Steve (1.3, steady), also in repeats, was one of the few top daytime shows able to avoid a decline, tying Wendy Williams (1.3, down 7%) for fifth place in talk. Hallmark Channel’s annual programming “Spring Fever” programming event culminated Saturday night with the world premiere of Once Upon a Prince, which marked the most-watched and highest-rated cable program of the day, excluding news and sports with a live plus same day HH rating of 2.4, 2.6 million Total Viewers and 488,000 W25-54, according to Nielsen data.
