Me: It's Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Do you know what that means? You: It means there are only 10 days between the present moment and the Day 1 of the 2022 NFL draft, where the New Orleans Saints currently hold two first-round picks. Or nine sleeps, depending on how you count such things. Me: Wow, you're brilliant, that's exactly what I was thinking. Folks, we're getting close! It is almost time to cue up that iconic NFL draft sound and stop all this prognosticatin' when it comes to who your favorite team might be interested in. Almost. But not quite. There's still a lot of room for intrigue in these next 10 days, specifically as it relates to the Saints, because nobody really knows exactly which direction they're going to go. They're armed with two first-round picks, they might use them both. Then again, they might not. The thing many outside the building (including myself!) are wondering is this: Did they acquire those two first-rounders from Philly earlier this month to give them a better shot at snagging a quarterback in Round 1? And if so, who would that be? My colleague Jeff Duncan tries to answer that very question in his latest column, and he's convinced there's one guy the Saints would lock in on if they chose to go that route. That would be semi-historic move for the Saints, by the way. It's been more than 50 years since the last time they selected a quarterback in the first round. That guy turned out alright. It's not all draft talk around these parts. The Saints made a real, live roster move Monday, bringing back a veteran running back who's carved out a nice little role for himself on special teams these last couple seasons.
