| | Tiffany Ma has always been motivated by the excitement of putting what she knows about science into a commercial setting. While a postdoc at the University of Oxford, she created Gambit Bio to develop an at-home lateral flow test that screens for the most common cancers. Shortly after launching GambitBio, Tiffany joined the Venture Builder Incubator – an entrepreneurial programme run by the University of Edinburgh in partnership with our innovation arm Cancer Research Horizons – to help her get in touch with investors and entrepreneurs for further advice. GambitBio has since won several prizes, completed its first pilot study, and started to raise pre-seed funding. Read the interview with Tiffany to find out how the Venture Builder Incubator helped her and to apply to join the next cohort. Applications close 15 July. |

| | We’re offering a limited number of bursaries to cover travel and accommodations costs for those with an accepted poster or lightning talk at our early detection conference. The conference hosted by the Canary Center at Stanford in collaboration with OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and us takes place in San Francisco between 22-24 October. | |
| | | | Join us on 5 July at 12pm for the next edition of our free research data webinar series. We’ll discuss novel methods to involve and engage patients and the public to help ensure patient data is used responsibly and ethically. During the webinar, David Snelson (use MY data) will use the example of his own cancer data to illustrate how valuable data will go underutilised unless databases can be joined up. Joining David will be Matt Howard-Murray (Cancer Research UK), Harriet Unsworth (Cancer Research UK National Biomarker Centre), Kelly Gleason (Imperial College London) and Kara-Louise Royle (Leeds Clinical Trial Research Unit). Don’t miss the chance to ask these data-driven cancer researchers questions about how diverse input from the public aids their research. | |
