Congratulations to the winners of the Cancer Research Horizons' Innovation and Entrepreneurship awards: Entrepreneurship Recognition Award: Steve Jackson Impact Recognition Award: Rebecca Fitzgerald Early-career Entrepreneur of the Year: Anjui Wu, Cansor Ltd and Susanti Susanti, PathGen Diagnostik Teknologi Woman Entrepreneur of the Year: Claire Lewis, University of Sheffield New Startup of the Year: Adendra Therapeutics Ltd Startup Achievement of the Year: Achilles Therapeutics Further, Faster, Together: The iDx Lung Collaboration Sixty nominees and guests, drawn from across the entrepreneurial pathway, gathered to hear the awards announced by Andy Richards, Cancer Research Horizons Non-Executive Director. The Recognition category winners, Steve Jackson and Rebecca Fitzgerald spoke candidly about the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, and the importance of collaboration.
There was a fantastic buzz throughout, with entrepreneurs sat shoulder-to-shoulder, swapping stories and congratulations across the evening.

USING VIRTUAL REALITY TO ANALYSE TUMOURS In 2017, IMAXT was awarded 20 million by Cancer Grand Challenges, funded by Cancer Research UK to map the molecular and cellular tumour microenvironment.
The team has now built the first 3D tumour visualisation tool and is releasing their virtual reality software to the wider cancer research community.
The tools, created by Suil, will be available for free for academic non-commercial research to enrich the visualisation of huge datasets and gain a greater understanding of the genetics of cancers and the physical structure of tumours. |

WEBINAR ON COLLABORATION AND ADVOCACY IN A RARE CANCER STUDY Join David Thomas from the International Rare Cancers Initiative at 9am GMT on 14 December to hear more about the Molecular Screening and Therapeutics study.
This study aims to improve access for targeted treatments to people affected by rare cancers through genomic profiling.
David will share his experiences of developing working relationships with pharmaceutical companies and outline different models of interaction between clinical research teams, government, pharma, patient advocates and the public. |
