A Senate committee has removed some of the controversial language in the Build Back Better bill following concerns from multiple faith groups that argued the bill would ban such groups from obtaining federal assistance due to their religious views. Although the Washington, D.C.-based Institutional Religious Freedom Alliance (IRFA) says they approve of the changes made, they are still concerned about the proposed legislation as written.
The University of California-Irvine has fired a professor of medical ethics who has been contending that the school's vaccine mandate is unconstitutional given the science of natural immunity. In a Friday essay on his Substack, Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, the now-former professor of psychiatry at UC-Irvine School of Medicine and director of the medical ethics program at UCI-Health, bid farewell to the university where he has enjoyed teaching for over a decade. Kheriaty told The Christian Post, "I'm being unjustly discriminated against because I [have] this form of immunity rather than the form of immunity that is supposedly conferred by the vaccines. With each passing week, the efficacy of these vaccines, particularly against the new variants, becomes more apparent."
The sale of Artza gift boxes has raised over $1.2 million to support 42 small Israeli businesses and seven charities as thousands of businesses in the Holy Land have closed due to declining tourism during the pandemic. The quarterly subscription gift boxes, which contain nine artisanal goods from Israel and the stories behind them, provide a source of revenue for Israeli businesses and charities.

In this piece from CP Voices, op-ed contributor Jeff Crouere discusses Biden's first eleven months in office. Pointing to the President's 43.9% approval rating and struggles with economic policies, Crouere asserts that he believes "Biden will soon transition to a 'COVID forever' strategy. He will point to the increasing numbers of deaths as a reason for more mask and vaccine mandates. Biden will continue to demonize unvaccinated Americans, although the precise size of this group is unknown."

We Move Together

Hi Friend,

As we enter the final months of 2021, we want to know: How are you doing?

In the midst of ongoing injustice, rising rates of extreme poverty, disasters and mass displacement, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. You may have begun to wonder, is it even possible to create lasting change? I want to respond to Jesus’ call to love and serve the vulnerable. Does anyone else?

We understand how you feel.

And yet, in Acts chapter 17, the apostle Paul writes that God has marked out the appointed times in history and the very places where each of us exists. That’s a powerful thought! And that’s why we invite you to join us as we pause and reflect through the Advent season this year.

JOURNEY WITH US THROUGH ADVENT

In this four-part devotional series, we’ll journey together through the themes of HOPE, PEACE, FAITH and JOY. As we pause to connect with God and one another, we’ll be renewed and reminded that Jesus — God with us, Emmanuel — is still inviting us to be his hands and feet in the world today.

Here’s what to expect when you sign-up:

  • A live kick-off event on December 1st to gather with others from across the World Relief community
  • Weekly devotionals from voices across World Relief sharing prayer, scripture and reflection resources
  • Weekly activities for families to participate together
  • Surprise pre-Advent resources to inspire and prepare your heart

Creating change that lasts isn’t easy, but it’s possible when we move together. Will you join us?

Moving Towards Change Together,
World Relief
