COVID's Toll on Your Church's Finances | For the first couple of months of the pandemic, it seemed like most churches were doing OK financially. I talked to several pastors who were surprised (and relieved) that giving held steady. But after a few months, things started to change. As the lockdowns wore on, giving dropped for many congregations. Some pastors blamed the slumping economy and soaring unemployment rates. Others pointed to the end of physical gatherings. Parishioners may have meant to keep giving online, but many simply forgot. Out of sight, out of mind. Two articles will help shed light on what’s going on. The first report explores why Few Churches Are Back to Pre-COVID Attendance. The second explains why Half of Pastors See Negative Economic Impact for Church. If your church has been negatively affected by the pandemic and shaky economy, I recommend checking out this resource for When the Budget Is Tight. In tough times, the call to be good stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us is even more important. |
