With things changing so quickly in relation to the coronavirus, the City will be providing regular updates to our community. What venues and facilities have closed?
The following City managed facilities and buildings have been closed until further notice: All Cockburn Libraries Administration Building – reception (4.30pm Tuesday 24 March) Cockburn ARC Cockburn Seniors Centre Reuse Shop Azelia Ley Museum Homestead & Wagonhouse. We are reviewing other venues and facilities. Any further closures will be announced as they occur. Please note you can still submit a customer request at [email protected] or call 08 9411 3444. Online payments can also be made on our website under ‘Online Services’.
Will our beaches close?
The City is actively monitoring its beaches to ensure social distancing is being adhered to by the community. Until further notice, all beaches remain open.
How is the City supporting local business?
The City and its various business partners are working together to offer support to our business community on what State and Federal COVID-19 support measures apply to them, as well as offering complimentary access to tailored business support and advice to help them prepare for business disruptions.

What support is the City providing to the elderly and vulnerable?
The City is working on a coordinated local response around how to look after the most vulnerable people in our community. We are continuing to assess all services and we are urgently adapting our plans to include a focus around how best to look after the vulnerable people in our community. These plans are based on existing Local Emergency Management Arrangements.
The Cockburn Seniors Centre has strategies in place to provide on-going support to their members during the closure period and continues to remain in contact with members.
Home and Community Support Services are still being delivered to frail elderly clients through Cockburn Care and a range of other providers in the community. The Federal Government has introduced strategies for these and for Disability Services to be more flexible and scalable during this crisis.
The City also operates the Volunteer Resource Centre. We will be looking to recruit volunteers with a range of specific skills in the near future. We will put a call out for Volunteers once systems are in place.
Events Cancelled Show-off 16 - 28 March - 5 April Cockburn Cultural Fair – 4 April Youth Outrage School Holiday Program - 10-24 April Citizenship Ceremony – 20 April ANZAC Day Dawn Service & Parade – 25 April ANZAC Day Youth Parade – 29 April Seniors Dinner Dance – 2 May. Many other City-run events have been cancelled or postponed. Please check the City’s website for further information.
Community and Sporting Facilities
Due to the recent legislation laid down by the WA Chief Health Officer, the City of Cockburn is closing all Community and Sporting Facilities available for hire – effective from 12.01am Wednesday, 25 March 2020. We are currently updating our facilities and venues for hire page on our website. Keep checking in for more information.
Will bin and verge collections continue?
The City will continue to provide bin and verge collections.
Will planning and building applications still be processed?
All planning and building applications will be processed as per usual. Online applications are available.
