Are you excited for the Oscars, Reader?

Tonight’s a big night for Jewish film, with “The Fabelmans,” Steven Spielberg’s autobiographical drama about his Jewish upbringing up for seven awards. Could the film, with its casual inclusion of matzah brei and kugel, repeat its Golden Globe wins? Or could it lose to “Everything, Everywhere, All At Once,” starring Jamie Lee Curtis and an interdimensional everything bagel?

Tonight, we’ll have our eyes on Jay Rosenblatt, whose short documentary “How Do You Measure a Year?” tracks his relationship with his daughter through home movies  (I spoke with Rosenblatt, who got the new film’s title from “Rent,” when he was nominated last year.) We also have Jenny Slate’s macaroni-shofar-blowing Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” in our Oscar pool for best animated picture.
