The links below are now up-to-date. MEDIA ADVISORY WHO has updated its guidance on ‘Considerations for implementing and adjusting public health and social measures in the context of COVID-19’. This update takes into account the status of fully vaccinated or recovered individuals, as well as information on new Variants of Concern. ‘Public health and social measures’ are a wide range of measures, both individual and societal, that control the spread of COVID-19. Even in places where vaccination coverage is increasing, these measures continue to be critical at preventing infections, reducing transmission, and saving lives. This update provides new recommendations on individualized public health and social measures based on a person’s full vaccination status or past infection with the virus. Wherever more transmissible Variants of Concern are spreading, these measures need to be applied more stringently or for longer periods to achieve the same level of control.
