The Saints defense dominated in Week 1. And this week their bodies are paying the price for the pounding they delivered to the Packers.

The Saints defense is a battered and bruised unit.

Three defensive starters did not practice Thursday and four others, including shutdown cornerback Marshon Lattimore, were limited, beat reporter Amie Just reports. Needless to say, this is not a promising development as kickoff of Sunday's game in Carolina nears.

While you're pondering that news, give Luke Johnson's early preview of the Saints-Panthers game a once-over. It's good stuff, as Luke gives us three things to watch as the Saints try to sustain their momentum from their gonzo performance in Week 1.

And finally, a familiar face has temporarily taken over the Saints' tight end group, Johnson reports. The interesting thing: He never played tight end.
