View email online | | | | | | | | | Apr 23, 2020 | | | | | | | | Good evening, It seems appropriate that St George’s Day has fallen on a Thursday.
The spirit of St George - brave, selfless, heroic even - helps to conjure up some of the qualities many of our key workers are displaying at the moment. Those keeping the NHS running, council and supermarket workers, bus and delivery drivers and of course care workers who are putting themselves in harm’s way just by stepping through the doors of their workplaces - all of them have these qualities in abundance. And so our regular Thursday evening cheer on our doorsteps seems perfectly timed this week. Yet, even while the majority of us do our best to follow the guidelines in order to let these marvellous folk get on with their jobs, there are still the minority who are flouting the rules, somehow believing it doesn’t mean them. It does. It means all of us. And if there is to be any chance of getting back to some kind of normality in future, we need to follow the guidance that is coming from Government now.
