All the latest Covid-19 news from around the region
View email online | | | | | May 19, 2020 | | | | | | Good Evening, Who doesn’t love a conspiracy theory? Every major world event is followed by a host of them and the coronavirus outbreak has been no different. The most dominant of these is that the Covid-19 pandemic was the result of an accident in a laboratory in Wuhan. A dropped test tube, or something similar, which seeped out of the window and into the general population before making its way around the world via trains, boat and planes. It is a theory which has been given wings by American president Donald Trump, who may be disappointed to learn that Professor David Robertson has told the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee there is no evidence to back the theory and that given it is most likely to have come from wildlife, Wuhan has a live animal market that is almost certainly the explanation. Of course, if you believe the conspiracy theory, this explanation becomes just another layer of the conspiracy. Sadly an obsession with theories stops us getting to the real facts and eliminating the risk at the real source.
