Monday: Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent said the current access road into the correctional centre wasn't viable and ratepayers shouldn't have to foot the bill for the road's ongoing maintenance. Tuesday: A Federal Government bailout is being sought to stop the coronavirus downing one of Australia's smallest regional airlines. Newcastle-based FlyPelican is one of the few carriers servicing regional New South Wales. Wednesday: A woman faced court after allegedly punching and spitting on a Lake Macquarie supermarket employee. Police were told a 52-year-old woman, who was banned from the Charlestown supermarket, verbally abused and threatened a 46-year-old staff member before assaulting him. Thursday: Nurses at John Hunter Hospital are concerned frontline staff are ill-equipped for medical procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a widespread shortage of face masks. | |
