Bathroom emergency: The wrong time to call 911 If you’ve ventured outside your home in the past week, you probably noticed a commonplace item missing from store shelves: toilet paper. In response to the coronavirus epidemic, legions of panic-buyers have begun hoarding toilet paper to prepare for months indoors. But what are you supposed to do when you run out and the stores are empty? Well, one police department in Newport, Oregon has some sobering advice: Don’t call 911. In a lengthy Facebook post, the department begged followers not to rely on emergency services for TP and provided an extensive list of alternatives to consider. Magazines, receipts, newspapers, tissue paper, catalogs, corn cobs and leaves are all on the table. Hopefully, enough people read their advice and stop rushing Target for paper. We want some, too!
