High school and college football starts up in earnest this weekend, and what better way to kick it off than with Thursday’s exhibition game pitting longtime rivals the Bangor Rams and the Brewer Witches against each other at Cameron Stadium in Bangor? Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Bangor Daily News’ Sam Canfield profiled each team, with Brewer looking for a turnaround season, and Bangor eyeing finishing with a winning record. UMaine football’s home opener is also set for 7 p.m. Friday at Alfond Stadium, against Colgate University. The BDN’s Larry Mahoney said UMaine’s wide receiver corps is its biggest strength this year. |
