Speakers at the Wednesday CivicCon series event discussed the quality of life survey that had 784 responses from UL students, most of which indicated they enjoy the quality of life in Lafayette, rate highly the city’s parks and recreation opportunities along with the entertainment and cultural events. About a third of those responded indicated the area is improving. On the connectivity issue, about half of respondents indicated little or no connection to elements off campus, including civic nonprofits, faith communities, local businesses or local arts and culture groups. Barriers – such as lack of time, lack of money and lack of awareness -- often exist to keep students from making that connection, but there are still ways to overcome them, said Grayson Stepanek, also with student government.
