We are thrilled to award Eco-Grants to nine winning teams to expand the impact of their Climate Solutions Campaign projects and recognize additional outstanding accomplishments through six honorary awards. Get to know our teams by learning more about their projects below! 

Grand Prize Winner - $1,000

 Matungu Community Development Charity
Nairobi, Kenya
Our Grand Prize-winning team is a group of four motivated girls who organized a community-wide tree planting event where they planted more than 3,500 tree saplings to promote indigenous foliage as a means of environmental conservation and carbon emission reduction. 
Most Inspirational Team Award - $500
Redondo Union High School
Redondo Beach, California
Community Changemaker Award - $500
Helen Keller Middle School
Long Beach, California
The Redondo Reducers Club, led by
Rylee, hosted a Plastic Pollution Solutions
Panel featuring state and local leaders that
dove deep into the most pressing issues
around plastic pollution.
Grades of Greens students from Helen Keller Middle School teamed up with fellow Long Beach students to advocate for the commitment of Long Beach Unified School District to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030.

Weston, Massachusetts 
Most Collaborative Teams Award - $500
Adams & Farmington
High Schools

Rochester Hills & Farmington, Michigan 
The team from Weston High School, led by Max, collected more than 500 pounds of plastic bags from his community to repurpose into a public bench.
Students from Adams and Farmington Hills High Schools collaborated on a project to get their schools to ban styrofoam lunch trays and replace them with sustainable alternatives.

Mira Costa High School
Manhattan Beach, California
Best Elementary Impact Award - $500
Mary Bragg Elementary School
Cerritos, California
The "For the Greener Good" Team from Mira Costa High School partnered with local businesses to encourage planet-friendly diets through a Meatless Monday social media campaign.
The Mary Bragg Green Team tackled the topic of trees this year by creating an advocacy website, conducting community tree plantings and joining a letter-writing campaign to protect old-growth rainforests.

Whitney High School
Cerritos, California
International Changemaker
Award - $250
To Environment, With Love
Kolkata, India
The dedicated Ecology and Wildlife Club at Whitney High School hosted a community tree sale to offset their school's paper usage and surpassed their goal by distributing more than 120 trees.
These intrepid girls raised awareness on the issue of waste by collecting and recycling trash and other materials from their local communities, while educating the public about the impacts of trash and single-use plastics. 
Most Dynamic Team Award - $250
Kishoka Youth Organization
Mombasa, Kenya

 
The students from the Kishoka Youth Organization hosted a bike ride event in their community where they planted 100 mangrove seedlings, in addition to conducting litter pick-ups, presenting at seminars and educating younger students on the importance of mangroves.
