Mike’s career in the travel industry began in 1979 as a leisure travel advisor. His passion and commitment quickly led him into a management role, which he held for a decade prior to joining Carnival in 1989 as a Business Development Manager for the Upper Midwest region.
Over the years, Mike has held several key leadership roles, — Regional Vice President for the Central U.S., Managing Director for the U.S., and now Vice President of Field Sales North America — each marked by his deep-rooted support for travel advisors and the teams around him.
Mike’s enthusiasm, leadership, and genuine dedication not just to travel advisors, but also, to the many colleagues he has welcomed and mentored over the years has been instrumental in shaping the success of Carnival and leaving a lasting mark on the industry as a whole. Many of the individuals he’s guided have gone on to lead in top roles across the travel industry, a true testament to his authenticity, willingness to listen, and ability to build meaningful relationships. As Mike shares, “Being on both sides of the desk, I recognize the importance of travel advisors today, more than ever. My entire adult career has been in the travel industry. I never dreamed of doing anything else.”
Mike resides in Iowa with his husband of 46 years, and they enjoy spending their winters in Palm Springs. Outside of work, Mike loves fine wine, great food, spending time with friends, and traveling!
