By KELLY P. KISSEL | State news editor Louisiana wildlife officers revealed something a lot of us here didn't know: There are a ton of fish in the LSU Lakes. Seriously. Wildlife officials say they seized more than a metric ton of shad from two unlicensed fishermen who used dip nets to take fish illegally from the University Lakes system. The Church Point men were cited for taking commercial fish without the right license. Nearly three dozen homes in the Mid City area have been targeted for rehabilitation work. A New Orleans redevelopment firm says it will renovate 31 homes in an area around Dufrocq Elementary School at the corner of 19th and Government streets. Some of the buildings are multi-family dwellings and some are single-family homes. Is it a good thyme for herbs? You bet it is. |
