Hi there, Lawmakers are on recess, but when it comes to Net Neutrality we’re not playing. Big cable companies like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon will stop at nothing in their quest to control the internet and destroy Net Neutrality for good. This week they even began threatening to sue cities and states that have passed their own laws in response to overwhelming public pressure to protect the open internet.1 For the next two weeks, your members of Congress will be back home in their districts and we need them to know how important Net Neutrality is to you. Sign up today to drop by your local congressional office. Congress has a chance to restore the FCC’s Net Neutrality rules using the Congressional Review Act (CRA), but the clock is ticking. Congress will vote soon on the CRA, and before that happens we need to make sure lawmakers are on our side. Losing Net Neutrality will impact everyone — particularly people of color and other vulnerable communities who use the internet to call out injustice, share their stories and fight for change. With your help we can win this. Thanks for everything you do— Mary Alice, Candace, Heather and the rest of the Free Press Action Fund team P.S. Dropping by your local congressional office is easy and fun. RSVP today to attend a drop-in visit or schedule one of your own. 1. “AT&T/Verizon Lobbyists to ‘Aggressively’ Sue States That Enact Net Neutrality,” Ars Technica, March 27, 2018: https://act.freepress.net/go/19749?t=8&akid=8782%2E10296224%2Evn4k4R |
