Former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has filed a grievance against the National Football League under the collective bargaining agreement, alleging league owners conspired to keep him from signing with a team because of his political protest. The NFL players' union was not involved in the filing but says it will support Kaepernick's efforts.

Tesla has reportedly fired between 400 and 700 employees after conducting its annual performance reviews across all divisions of the company. Tesla has been struggling to meet growing production demand for its Model 3 sedans and has posted 2,000 job openings on its career website.

Labor Dept. expands audits to get pension benefits to ex-employees
The Labor Department is expanding a pilot that uses audits to determine when a pension plan has former employees who have not taken a lump-sum payment and are not receiving benefits. The program will undergo a nationwide rollout, which will put pressure on plan administrators to find "missing" participants or their beneficiaries, said Norma Sharara of Mercer.
