The U.S. Small Business Administrator and WWE founder is coming to Code.
Hi, It’s hard to have a conversation about tech today without talking about politics and, of course, about the Trump administration. Whether the topic is immigration, deregulation, social tolerance or how to promote innovation, Silicon Valley is wary of the president, who spends more time tweeting and trolling tech than promoting entrepreneurs. That’s where Linda McMahon presumably tags in — the professional wrestling mogul is now the Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration. After she and her husband Vince built World Wrestling Entertainment, McMahon took the job as Trump's voice to businesses that don’t always have one — Trump has bestowed on her the highest of praise: “She’s a killer.” As it has turned out, she has also been one of the only cabinet members who has not created a storm of bad press. The New York Times noted: "Ms. McMahon has distinguished herself as the rare high-ranking administration official deemed broadly unobjectionable.” During her tenure, loans to women-owned businesses have risen 7 percent, and she has supporters on both sides of a very partisan divide in Washington, D.C. We want to talk to her about all that and more. McMahon joins a lineup of tech and business leaders that includes the CEOs of AT&T, Airbnb, Spotify and Snap — you can see the full lineup here. Hope to see you there! Kara Swisher and Peter Kafka | Interested in sponsoring one of our events? Contact our sales team to find the right opportunity for you.
