David Gordon and Tony Xu

Hi,

On-demand food delivery is the Wild West of e-commerce right now: The economics are difficult, the competition is stiff and there isn’t one player who has cracked the right business model (yet). At the same time, it’s on the tipping point of a massive market opportunity. That’s why investors like SoftBank are interested.

DoorDash is one of several on-demand delivery companies working to figure out how to bring delivery to the masses — while also turning a profit. Its next challenge is identifying key restaurant chains to power their delivery experience. So far, DoorDash partners with 51 of the Top 100 U.S. restaurant chains, including Wendy’s, Jack in the Box, P.F. Chang’s and Buffalo Wild Wings. So, how is it working?

We’ve invited DoorDash co-founder and CEO Tony Xu and Cheesecake Factory president David Gordon to An Evening With Code Commerce at Shoptalk to discuss:

  • How traditional restaurant owners are adapting to the on-demand delivery model
  • How companies like DoorDash could serve as a seamless logistics engine for mainstream restaurant chains
  • Delivering to customers who expect quick service with the push of a button

Xu and Gordon are a part of a lineup that also includes Rent the Runway’s co-founder and CEO, Jennifer Hyman. Join Jason Del Rey and Kara Swisher at the Shoptalk conference on March 20 as they dig deeper to understand the risk and opportunity in the food-delivery space. Register now to secure your front-row seat!

See you there,
