The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is pleased to invite all interested individuals from state Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) programs, health plans, and their quality improvement (QI) partners to join us as we feature state projects from our Improving Postpartum Care affinity group. Please register at Mathematica WebEx - Register Meeting for the State Spotlights in Improving Postpartum Care webinar, Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 2:00 pm ET to 3:00 pm ET. Postpartum care is an important part of the continuum of reproductive care across the life cycle. Care during the postpartum period involves not just a single postpartum visit, but a series of visits beginning with the birthing event and transitioning to ongoing primary healthcare. More than half of pregnancy-related deaths occur in the postpartum period, and 12 percent occur after six weeks postpartum. Medicaid and CHIP programs can take actionable steps to improve postpartum care and work to eliminate preventable maternal mortality, severe maternal morbidity (SMM), and inequities in access to care and outcomes. The CMS Medicaid and CHIP QI program provides information, tools, and expert support needed to improve care and outcomes for Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries. From April 2021 through April 2023, CMS supported nine states participating in the Improving Postpartum Care affinity group. This webinar will feature state QI projects from the affinity group, highlighting state strategies, partnerships, and lessons learned. The recording of the webinar will be posted on the quality improvement initiatives page of Medicaid.gov. We hope you can join us! |
