$30.5 Million Apple Settlement ApprovedSan Francisco, CA An Apple Inc. class action lawsuit filed almost a decade ago has finally been approved. Back in 2013, the technology giant’s retail workers claimed they were shortchanged for time spent in mandatory security checks after their shifts, which is a violation of the California labor law. The $30.5 million settlement includes compensation for 15,000 employees.
Uber Misclassification Suit Finally Settles for $8.4MSan Francisco, CA A California judge last month gave his final approval in Uber’s misclassification lawsuit. About 1,322 drivers who alleged they were misclassified as contractors will share the $8.4 million settlement. The agreement resolves years of litigation in the class action, which claimed that Uber deliberately classified drivers as contractors to avoid providing certain wages and benefits required by California labor law.
