ð Læs hele nyheden her |

Disclaimer: This translation has been generated by AI. Dear reader Here is another newsletter from CISU. Summer isn't just knocking on Denmarkâs door. It's making itself loudly known with sunshine, heat, and heavy downpours. Here at the secretariat in Aarhus, we're getting ready for the three-week summer break, which starts this Friday and lasts until Monday, July 28. If you're already thinking about what to do after the holidays, here's a quick opportunity: CISU is offering access passes to UNGA, but you need to reach out before noon on Thursday. If you'd rather read about someone else's travels, check out LinkedIn, where you can get a glimpse of our colleague Heleneâs trip to Catalonia, and scroll further down in this newsletter for news about the major financing meeting in Seville. Happy reading and enjoy the summer Kim Jensen
Application Round for Small Programmes Adjusted to Meet Demand CISU has decided to adjust the procedures for handling the application round for Small Programmes under the Civil Society Fund on 10 September. "If this round turns out like the ones we've seen for other funding types, we can expect very high demand, and both we and the applicants need to be prepared for that," says fund manager Iben Westergaard Rasmussen. While it's impossible to predict the number of applications, 87 organisations will be eligible to apply for the DKK 30 million allocated for Small Programmes in this round. This means that CISU will be able to approve 7â8 applications, assuming each applicant applies for the maximum amount. Fund manager Iben Westergaard Rasmussen emphasizes the importance of applicants understanding the competitive landscape before committing time and effort with their partner to prepare and submit an application. "We assume that most applications will meet the administrative requirements, and that applicants are familiar with these requirements, as multiple previous grants under the Civil Society Fund are needed to even be eligible to apply," explains Iben Westergaard Rasmussen. ð Read the full news item with an overview of the principles used to forward applications for review
Simplified Guidelines and New Application Format Version 1.1 of the guidelines for the Civil Society Fund has just been published. The updated version is based on experiences from the first half-year under the new regulatory framework and includes linguistic clarifications, simplified assessment criteria and eligibility requirements, as well as a shorter chapter on public engagement in Denmark. A checklist for applicants has also been added. "Our dedicated users and the Grant System continuously provide feedback on the guidelines, and we're pleased to already incorporate a range of simplifications and clarifications into both the guidelines and application forms," says fund manager Iben Westergaard Rasmussen. At the same time, a new application format has been developed for Small Programmes. The new format includes fewer and more precise questions and now also addresses aspects related to Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), which is particularly relevant for programmes involving or affecting indigenous peoples. All applicants to the Civil Society Fund must use version 1.1 of the guidelines and the most recent version of the application format. ð The documents are available on CISUâs website. Other application formats will be updated during the autumn. As mentioned earlier in this newsletter, there is strong interest in the fund, and the guidelines will therefore continue to be adjusted to best support effective development cooperation.
Civil Society Demands Stronger Agreements in Seville These days, 70 heads of state, representatives from the UN, World Bank, businesses, and civil society organisations are gathering to discuss the future financing of development. The event, titled âFinancing for Development 4â (FfD4), is taking place in Seville, Spain. ðGlobal Focus has presented three proposals that could make the conference a turning point, calling for binding aid timelines, an ambitious EU budget, and a strengthened UN role in debt and taxation. CISUâs Head of Capacity Building, Nicolai Houe, is part of a Danish civil society delegation coordinated by Global Focus. For him, the conference began on Saturday with a gathering of civil society organisations. The focus has been on coordinating demands, positions, and perspectives, he explains. However, he also shares a concern: "The agreement text is already finalized. So itâs uncertain how much we can actually change," he says. ð Read the full news item here
New Development Policy Strategy: The Most Important Step Is Implementation As of today, July 1, the new development policy strategy, âA World in Upheavalâ, is in effect. Many of CISUâs member organisations actively contributed input to the strategy and participated in CISUâs event with development spokespersons at Christiansborg in February. The influence of civil society is evident in the strategyâs emphasisâparticularly in the opening, value-driven sections. "The input we have delivered as an association community and shared with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the development spokespersons in the lead-up to the new strategy is clearly reflected," says CISU advisor Anders Reimers Larsen, who works on political advocacy on behalf of member organisations. ð Read the full news item here
