| 160MHz RISC-V SoC Embeds Wi-Fi 6 and BLE | Espressif Systems has announced the upcoming release of ESP32-C6, its new Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5 (LE) SoC. Espressif Systems says that the ESP32-C6 is unique in that it embeds a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) radio that also supports the 802.11b/g/n standard for backward compatibility. This Wi-Fi 6 support is optimized for IoT devices, and the SoC supports a 20MHz bandwidth for 802.11ax mode, and a 20/40MHz bandwidth for 802.11b/g/n mode. | |
| MCUs Feature Array of Comms Options | Renesas Electronics has announced the expansion of its RA6 Series microcontrollers with 20 new RA6M5 Group MCUs, completing the mainstream line of RA6 Series devices. The new parts offer a wide array of communications options, including CAN FD, Ethernet MAC with DMA, USB Full Speed and High Speed, and multiple serial interfaces. | |
| SEGGER Embedded Studio Adds Support for Renesas RE MCUs | SEGGER Microcontroller has announced that embedded developers can now use SEGGER Embedded Studio IDE with the Renesas RE Family of MCUs. Embedded Studio is its cross-platform IDE for embedded systems development. The editor is quick to start up and the build process is extremely fast, saving precious working hours. Embedded Studio contains SEGGER’s own runtime and floating point libraries, compilers and linkers. | |
| Breathalyzer Links to Car’s Ignition System | To stop people from driving under the influence, it helps if their cars start only when their blood alcohol content is below the legal limit. In this article, learn how this York University student made a breathalyzer that’s built into a car’s ignition system—also known as an ignition interlock device. The system uses an NXP LPC802 MCU. | |
| Wireless BLE MCUs Offer Ultra Low-Power | STMicroelectronics has extended its STM32WB Bluetooth LE MCU offering with new devices that combine entry-level features with extra power savings for longer-lasting performance. The dual-core STM32WB15 and STM32WB10 Value Line pair an Arm Cortex-M4 processor to run the main application and a Cortex-M0+ to handle Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, ensuring real-time performance from each. | |
Nvidia Launches TAO Software for Easier AI Model Training Nvidia unveiled a GUI-based “TAO” framework that eases AI model training for GPU-equipped platforms such as Jetson. There is also an upcoming “Grace” CPU plus improvements to Nvidia’s Jarvis voice agent, Maxine video SDK and other AI tools. | | |
