Christmas trees grown in N.C., sold in Louisiana

Jefferey Pollard is used to cutting trees. But this year, before the harvest could even start, his skills were needed away from the family farm in North Carolina.

North Carolina is the country’s second-largest producer of Christmas trees, and most of Louisiana's live Christmas trees come from western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee, which was hit by Hurricane Helene. 

Industry officials haven’t offered estimates on Christmas tree losses, which happened as a result of landslides, flooding and extreme wind from the storm.
