Also, Coquette chef survives hit-and-run SUV
By Bob Warren Oh, Christmas tree: Notice a shortage of trees at the Christmas tree lots across the area? Some operators say inventory is down as much as 35% this year. The result? Christmas trees are harder to find and, you guessed it, more expensive. Information and misinformation: A House committee on Monday opposed Gov. John Bel Edwards’ plan to add the COVID vaccine to the list of state-required vaccine schedule for students. The committee’s hearing in Baton Rouge was one for the ages, Blake Paterson reports. Count columnist Will Sutton as a supporter of vaccines for students. 'Extremely lucky': We've written a number of stories in recent months about bicyclists being struck by vehicles. Today, Doug MacCash has the story of Kelsey Carter, who was hit by an SUV as she biked home from a long day running the kitchern at Coquette. Taprooms to takeout: Staffing remains iffy at some places, and supply lines have been disrupted. But the usual holiday food-and-drink get-togethers can still be done if you get a little creative, our food and drink ace Ian McNulty reports. Think wine shops, taprooms, bakeries . . . Somber anniversary: Finally, today marks the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The National World War II Museum in New Orleans has a full slate of events. Hope you enjoyed the Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us today. BW |
