Ho ho ho!
I’m not a grinch, but raise your eyebrows if you agree that some aspects of the festive season can be worse than the ugliest Christmas sweater.
Christmas is a time of year when we all come together, yet this gathering often magnifies our differences and pushes us apart. Talk about irony! We clash and feel bad about ourselves, or make others feel bad about themselves because we all believe our way to live and celebrate is the right way.
The way I see it, Christmas is like spirituality in that there is no right way to express and observe it. So, this Christmas, how about we take judgment off the table and give ourselves and others the gift of acceptance instead?
I know, I know, it’s not easy to refrain from judgment or to accept others’ ideas and judgements as their own (actually it’s a bit like untangling those tree lights). But it’s worth the time and effort because acceptance is probably one of the only ways to achieve real peace.
Here’s to the art of peace-keeping.
