TOP OF THE AGENDA | Trump speaks out on China's new DeepSeek AI |
|
| | Trump also said he was not concerned about the breakthrough. Credit: Getty | US President Donald Trump has called DeepSeek's rise a "wake-up call" for the tech industry after many companies saw their stock prices plunge. However, he went on to say that it may actually be "a positive" for the US and he was sure the country would remain the dominant player in the AI field. But as our North America technology correspondent Lily Jamali writes, there is a sense that the sheer speed with which DeepSeek has shaken up the technology sector may have dented some of America’s swagger. |

And finally... in the UK | A 61-year-old woman has been arrested in London after allegedly dressing up in a series of wigs and disguises to take Life in the UK citizenship tests on behalf of others. She is suspected of completing the tests - a requirement for anyone seeking indefinite leave to remain or to become a British citizen - on behalf of 14 people, both male and female. Immigration officers said they seized "several false documents and an array of wigs" alleged to have been used in the fraudulent scheme, according to the Home Office. | |
