| A few months ago, we tried to put our three-year old in the church nursery. It did not go well. She spotted the other kids and immediately started wailing. We thought maybe she would get used to the idea and start to play but she cried for about 15 minutes before I decided to rescue her. Part of the problem is that the pandemic has covered most of her young life. Even when our church opened for in-person gatherings, there was initially no children’s ministry. When the children’s ministry resumed, and the nursery opened, she had never been in one. No wonder she cried. Children’s ministry is challenging under the best of circumstances.
