Charlotte Eatock's ocean embellished jewellery Charlotte Eatock is a jewellery designer who is concerned by the environmental impact of creating something new, so she looks for beauty and value in existing things - often finding them in unexpected places. Charlotte combines ocean plastic and recycled metals into environmentally conscious pieces, individually crafted by hand, to be worn on any occasion. |
Charlotte organises regular beach cleans on her local Devon beaches, gathering up all of the washed up ocean plastic and other detritus from the strandline. Some will be carefully cleaned, shaped, and combined with silver and bronze to become new jewellery pieces. The rest is responsibly disposed of far from the water's edge. |
What was once a pair of sunglasses, a razor or fisherman’s float is cleaned up off the beach and repurposed into ethical beach clean jewellery with new value and meaning. Each piece is completely unique, with its origins unknown, its colour imparted by a journey of many miles across the ocean, and its patina created by the pounding of the waves. They make the perfect gift for beach combers, sea swimmers and all lovers of Planet Earth. Which one speaks to you? Come and see the full collection in the gallery, or shop Charlotte's jewellery online. |

Large Scale Gestural Drawing with Colour Inks Speaking of creativity born from the beach, why not come and join us for our next large scale gestural drawing course here in our seaside studio? Get inspired by the big skies and rolling breakers here on the beach, feel the elements and channel them into a full body drawing experience. Over two days you'll work between the beach and the studio, translating sketches onto your own 4x8' drawing board. Our experienced tutor Katie Sollohub will guide you, using pencil, pastel, and coloured inks to respond to the sound and movement of this place. At the end of the course you may choose to take your drawings away whole, cut them up into smaller pieces, or wash them off in the sea, or leave it behind and take away only the memory of the experience. Join us on the 22nd and 23rd March, here in our classroom on Brighton beach. Book your place now. |
