A former youth pastor at Perimeter Church in Georgia is on the FBI's Most Wanted list for allegedly defrauding dozens of investors of millions of dollars. Christopher Burns, a youth pastor turned financial advisor, reportedly used the money to fund a lavish lifestyle and an obsession with Disney World. Burns, who was last seen by his ex-wife and children on Sept. 24, 2020, went on the run one day before he was scheduled to relinquish documents related to his businesses to the Securities and Exchange Commission, per a recent release from the Department of Justice. Matt Brodersen, the grandson of the late Charles Stanley, has garnered backlash after announcing plans to sell some of his grandfather's personal items online less than two weeks after the famed leader's death. The aspiring YouTuber defended the move in a video, stating, "I'm a human being who has bills to pay." Read more.
During CP's "Unmasking Gender Ideology: Protecting Children, Confronting Transgenderism" event at First Baptist Dallas last month, licensed professional counselor Julia Jeffress Sadler stressed the importance of connecting with those suffering from gender dysphoria without condemning them. Dave Hollis, a former Disney executive, Christian author and the ex-husband of Girl Wash Your Face author Rachel Hollis, died of an accidental overdose, according to a medical examiner's office. An autopsy report revealed that Hollis, who died nearly three months ago at the age of 47, had lethal amounts of cocaine, fentanyl and alcohol in his system. The report also revealed that Hollis had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and various medical conditions, including high blood pressure, depression, and hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. While several Christian leaders have warned against the idea of Christian nationalism, activist missionary Sean Feucht has doubled down on his support for the movement and insists that Christians should be ruling the nation and writing laws. Citing scriptures such as Proverbs 29:2, Feucht told CP, "We are called to be 'salt and light' to this world, and that includes being salt and light to America." Feucht's comments came in response to a viral video from an event in Tulsa, Okla., last Wednesday where some believe he suggested that the practice of Christian nationalism is preparing for the Second Coming of Christ. The first African American leader of the Presbyterian Church (USA) has said he will be stepping down from his position as leader of the largest Presbyterian denomination in the United States. PC(USA) Office of the General Assembly Stated Clerk the Rev. J. Herbert Nelson II announced his plans to step down effective June 30 on Tuesday, saying it "was not an easy decision," but he believes "it is the right one to make for my family and the church in this time of change."
