Dear , Thank you for your prayers and support for Murfreesboro Rescue Mission. Special thanks to those who attended the Mission’s September 19 annual banquet at the Fountains of Murfreesboro. Chairman Fred Tyus led us in celebrating the completion of parts one and two of our three phase project. Part one was the purchase of what we now call Bridge Avenue Apartments. The second phase included the purchased of the adjacent lot located at 415 Bridge Avenue. Fred also revealed the rendering of what our new shelter will look like when finished. This will become part three or the final phase of our capital campaign. It was my pleasure to highlight our programs that will serve the homeless in our community and just as important, give a word of encouragement from Hebrews 11: 1-5, reminding everyone that the financing and building of this shelter is going to be a journey of faith. |

I spent a total of sixteen years at Nashville Rescue Mission learning and working in various aspects of rescue work. On many of my previous visits to Nashville I have run across people that I have helped many years ago. Some, gained victory over drugs or alcohol. Others overcame life degrading issues that led them down the path of homelessness. Some remember conversations we had that led to them putting their faith in Christ. Whenever I run across a former resident, the conversation usually starts with the phrase, “remember when…” It’s always a joyous time. Sometimes tears but the conversation always ends with gratitude. There are many we have already helped through our various programs in Murfreesboro but the potential to help so many more will be realized when a permanent shelter is in place. We believe in the next two to three years, we will see the reality of a shelter in our community. As hard as it is to believe, temperatures for this week are already forecast to drop to 47 degrees at night. The season for winter shelter is just around the corner and we age getting ready. Last year, we saw over 1500 individual nightly stays. Once again, we will need your help with laundry needs. At our September banquet, many made decisions to give a monthly gift to help with this year’s winter needs or a gift towards a permanent shelter. Some even committed to both. Would you commit to a monthly gift to help MRM continue to serve our community? Thank you in advance for your support. Thanks, Ed Grimes Executive Director |
