| | | Sponsorship signage on City land and/or buildings The City's Sponsorship and Naming Rights on City Controlled Land and/or Buildings Policy recently underwent a review which was subsequently endorsed by Council at the May Ordinary Council Meeting. The policy is to be read in conjunction with the Local Planning Policy LPP 3.7 'Signs & Advertising'. Clubs that lease or otherwise hires a facility from the City must comply with this policy. Under no circumstances are clubs permitted to install signage of any description on City buildings without formal approval from City officers. | | Online safety advice and resources for sports clubs The eSafety Commissioner has developed a Sports Hub in conjunction with Sport Integrity Australia, Australian Sports Commission and Play by the Rules. The hub provides advice and resources for administrators, coaches and officials, athletes, and parents to help make sure everyone in sport has more positive experiences online. | | | Australian Sports Commission funding for athletes The Australian Sports Commission provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-18 through the Local Sporting Champions program and the Local Para Champions program. Applicants can receive between $500-$750 (Local Sporting Champions) or $750-$1000 (Local Para Champions) towards the cost of attending a state, national or international competition. | | New ABN reporting requirements for Not-for-profits From 1 July this year, non-charitable not-for-profit groups with a registered ABN, including community sporting clubs, will be required to lodge an annual NFP self-review to the Australian Tax Office confirming their income tax exemption status. It is also an Australian Business Register requirement that all organisations, including NFPs, maintain and update their ABN details within 28 days of becoming aware of changes.
