Jack Rickie makes his Fremantle Cockburn Hockey Club Premier 1 Grade debut at the ripe old age of 95! Based at the Lakelands Hockey and Sporting Facility in South Lake, the Magpies kickstarted their 2023 campaign and 90th anniversary celebrations with Jack Rickie taking the push back in their Premier 1 Men's opening match. Jack, a club life member since 1974, made the game day squad and took to Bateau Turf for his 217th appearance in the Black & White. He is the Magpies oldest surviving life member and held the position of Treasurer from 1965 to 1998. Jack epitomises the spirit of the club and there was a real buzz around his return to the field after a lengthy hiatus. When asked how he felt about adding to his games tally, that began in 1952, he said with a broad smile that he was "absolutely wrapped" and on his love for the club "the friendships made over the years, we've been blessed with wonderful people, to play with and off the field as well". See the news footage here. Jack joined the squad in the change rooms post-match for a rendition of the club victory song after the 4-2 home win over Victoria Park Panthers before promptly announcing his retirement for the second time in his hockey career.
