| 2023 Club Recognition and Awards Night The 2023 Club Recognition and Awards Night was held on Wednesday 12 July at the City's administration building. The awards acknowledge local sporting clubs that are demonstrating excellence in club management and governance – which in turn leads to positive outcomes for our community. Now in its third year, the event was previously held in conjunction with Junior Sport Travel Awards nights. This year it was a standalone event and expanded as a club 'thank you' event. The night was emceed by Channel 10 sports journalist and former Hockeyroo, Ash Nelson with Troy Kirkham (WAFC Executive Manager Youth, Community and Game Development) as the keynote speaker. Troy delivered a powerful presentation about developing community sport and the broader social impact that it generates. Bibra Lake Fun Run 2023 The Bibra Lake Fun Run is back for 2023 and registrations are now open! This year's event will be held on Sunday 10 September (Add to calendar). The event is FREE and open to people of all ages and fitness levels. There is a 6km and 12 km course around the lake, suitable for competitive runners and family groups alike. There will also be entertainment, activities, music and food. There are prizes for males and females for placing in five different age categories. ASC Sport Volunteer Resource Hub The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) have launched a Sport Volunteer Resource Hub, an online one-stop-shop that will help sporting organisations support and attract more volunteers. The hub was co-designed with the sporting community to ensure it provided best-practice support to volunteers no matter their age, gender, background, sport, or volunteer role.
